i was talking with a friend about teas and various ingredients when i started to wonder.... what do they do with all the petals in hanakai aus? like, maybe the petals are types that disintegrate once they've come out of the host but there's also that surgical removal so, presumably, the doctors have all these little bouquets that are just flowing with the feelings of the host

and imagine if they used those bouquets for teas... like, would teas made from petals of a first love taste light and sweet, or would all the petals be inedible because they're too bitter, or maybe that bitterness is part of the appeal/an acquired taste? imagine what tea made from unrequited love would taste like, esp if the flowers were removed moments after the host perishes...

i'm now craving tea... and wondering if this would be considered a sort of body horror/cannibalistic sort of thing...

but anyhow! i think it'd be interesting if the flowers were used for making teas and other various culinary dishes (and i kinda wanna incorporate this into the hanahaki fic that i have in my drafts)

or maybe they just gather the flowers and make some sort of compost with them... pressed flower bookmarks or other cute little accessories that come with the remaining energy of longing loves (now i'm just imagining some sort of blackmarket for all sorts of goods made from flowers from ppl infected with hanahaki.... god imagine if they even had some occupation where you could pay someone to go and trick a selected target to fall in love, all in order to get a certain bouquet.... the studies that are probably done seeing who has a higher chance of yielding which flowers and so on....)

Ooh, these are some galaxy-brain ideas!!! I love them! I'll admit that I don't know more than the basics of the hanahaki trope, and I've never actually read any fics featuring it, but these twists on it would be right up my alley!

thank you <3 and same here, like, the few times that i have read stories featuring the hanahaki trope, it's usually a result of miscommunication and gets resolved easily (which, to be honest, i think could be a horror all on its own!) so it's fun to think about ways that the trope can be expanded and dissected

omg i LOVE this idea!!! a blackmarket of unrequited love is so messed up but also im thinking about the kinds of people that would buy these teas to savor the pure emotions from the host...re-experiencing first love kinds of evil hehe

what if the person that's the object of affection by the infected host drank tea made by the host's flowery infection? do you think they'd share mutual feelings? 🌸

YEAH EXACTLY like.... those emotions that people say are fleeting and one of a kind would probably make a hell of a tea (like even if tastes like ass, it's all about the ephemeral appeal!!)

omg maybe... like an elevated form of self-love, or in the case of allergic reactions, their own feelings of rejection would conflict with the tea's feelings and it'd be a one way trip to eternal self hate
